Read in!

Tomorrow third grade classes will have a read in. Your child may bring a pillow to sit on if they would like! We will read different books during our reading class time tomorrow. Students will have time to read independently, and listen to fluent reading from a class guest!  

November 4th-8th

The students are working on Multiplication. Challenge them on the multiplication chart and facts. 

Homework will be a little different this week. The students are required to do regular math problems along with math facts, and now a story passage. These skills are very important to the students success. 

Buckeye book club is Thursday at 4:00 till 5:15!

PROGRESS REPORTS go home Thursday. Make sure you sign and return. 

Group pictures and retakes will be Friday so please dress your child for the picture.

Use this at home to help with rounding. The kids know to run away from the tornado or red line and go to the nearest friendly neighbor!

September 23-27 :     

Math

This week we will be doing addition through 3-digit numbers. These will be the last grades of the first six weeks. I will also be reviewing place value through 6-digits, and rounding to the nearest tens and hundreds place. 

***If you ever want extra practice sheets, please comment, email, or write in your students folder. I'm more than happy to give your child opportunities to grow. 

Book Fair starts on Monday. Your child may bring money to school for the book fair, when time allots during class they will be able to go. Thursday will be family night at the book fair from 4:30-7. Friday is the last day to purchase at the book fair from 8:30-12.

We will be having a fundraiser kick off Tuesday from 2:00-2:25. Be looking for that information.

Homework is sent home this week and DUE Friday. Make sure your child is using good math strategies. They are rewarded for hard work!

September 16-20

Parents please make sure your child is reading 20 minutes each night. Our class has visited the library but has not checked out books yet. Next week our library will have a book fair, so you may want to visit the public library if you do not have books at home.

We are studying unit 3 this week. There are games, handwriting practice sheets, and flash cards. This web site will even give your child a practice spelling test!

Practice place value! Write a number and talk about what the value is of the digits.

Peer reading in science

September 9-13

Unit 2 spelling words went home on Monday. We will have a spelling test on Thursday. In class we have been talking about using our "voice" in writing, and how to use describing words to make our sentences come alive! This week in Reading we will learn about schema, and how everyone's thinking is different!

Last week in Social Studies, we discussed how we could be good citizens at school, at home, and in our community. Look at some of our ideas. This is a great opportunity to discuss with your child other expectations you may have for them.

Ways to help your kids with Math!

First day of school

**Drop off for 3rd grade is at 8:00 am and you may walk your child to their classroom. 

Don't forget your school supplies if you didn't bring them to meet the teacher.

*Transportation changes may not be made after 2:00 pm and parents may not pick up their children in the office after 2:45 pm.

In order to pick up a child in the office, the person must provide a valid ID and car tag (if one has been issued to your child).

Please wait to have lunch with your child until Monday, September 10.

Red- Parent contact. Lose all of recess and documentation in discipline folder. Once the student has reached red three times, they will speak with and administrator.
